Urban fragments define the public space.
The subdivision of the area in single fragments reflects the city and the contents of the museum: the break caused by the destruction of the war, the break of the subsequent reconstruction, the break brought about the construction of the Berlin Wall in 1961.
The art and the ideas of the XX century are characterized by fractures.
Aim of the design is the definition of the public space between the architecture icons of Mies van der Rohe and Hans Sharoun, the Museum arises in form of slabs outstanding from the ground: a built visualization of the breaks.
